Capacity Management

Capacity Management

Capacity Management is a module that can be activated via the FreightTracker Marketplace. The below setup is required before the module can be utilised

The Capacity Management feature requires set up for each of the Allocations Screen Tabs where users will be required to monitor capacity when allocating. The setup will allow users to set up a number of slots for each hour of the day and will trigger various colours as capacity nears the set maximum for that time block. The Legs will be moved to the allotted slots as the Leg time is entered in the relevant Leg.

Settings > Allocations Tabs > Container Allocation

Switch 'Allow Time Slots Setup' to YES for any Tabs where the Capacity Management feature is to be used

Click on the Table icon for the tab to be configured, then click 'Group Data'

At a Tab level, the colour can be configured based on the number of remaining slots. Green means that there is adequate capacity, Orange means that capacity is is nearing exhaustion and Red means that capacity is either exhausted or very close. Users can configure the number of slots before these colour warnings are triggered.

In the below example:
50-6 Slots remaining - Slot Group will be Green
5-2 Slots remaining - Slot Group will be Orange
1-0 Slots remaining - Slot Group will be Red

At Group level, consideration will need to be taken for how many available capacity slots there will be for each hour of the day, on any given day. Once established, click on the clock icon and set up the hourly slots for each day. In the Timelsot field, enter the time of the day (eg. 0500) and then in the next field, enter in the number of capacity slots available for that hour, finally click the + icon to save that capacity slot.

The capacity slot is not considered saved until there is a Trash Can icon next to it.

Repeat for all hours of operation for that day, then repeat for each day of the week the business operates
Be sure to keep saving as setup progresses - nothing worse than losing work if the internet connection drops out or the browser crashes

The table will begin to resemble something that looks like this:

Repeat the above steps for all Groups within the Tab
Be sure to keep saving as setup progresses - nothing worse than losing work if the internet connection drops out or the browser crashes

Repeat the above steps for all of the Tabs that require Capacity Management setup

Once setup is complete, users can now use the Capacity Management tool to assist with allocations

The Allocations Screen will now split out each time of the day and the number of capacity slots available for that time period under its respective group. Any times that are not setup in the above table (outside of normal operating hours) will fall under 'Other'

Based on the Leg times entered, the Legs will fall within their allotted slot time and be displayed accordingly

Users can drag and drop a Leg into a new time slot if the plan changes

Users can clear out the Leg time and remove it from the capacity slot by clicking the trash can icon

There are also multiple areas where users can make changes to the capacity time slot configuration on the fly through the Allocations Screen
